Rockwell Land POS Accreditation: What Every Tenant Should Know Before Choosing a POS

It's Friday night, the last customers have drifted out, and your manager is tired. The POS says the day's sales file has been generated. Everyone assumes someone else is handling the upload to the mall.

Nobody is.

Nothing dramatic happens. No alarm goes off. There's just a quiet gap in the mall's records, and it won't show up until someone from the mall asks about it. (This scenario is hypothetical, but it's exactly the kind of thing that happens when a process depends on someone's memory.)

That's why, when you're choosing a POS for a Rockwell mall, the most important question isn't "are you accredited?" It's "who does the last step?" Let's look at what Rockwell sales reporting appears to involve, and how to make sure it never depends on luck.

First, Which Rockwell Property Are You In?

"Rockwell" covers more than one mall, and it's growing. The flagship is Power Plant Mall in Rockwell Center, Makati, which opened in December 2000 and has more than 200 stores. You can read the overview on Wikipedia.

Rockwell is also expanding. Power Plant Mall Angeles, with 32,000 square meters of leasable area, is slated to open in the third quarter of 2027, as you can see in Rockwell's announcement. And in December 2025, Rockwell bought a majority stake in Alabang Town Center, which has more than 500 retail and office tenants.

Why does that matter for your POS? Because new properties and ownership changes can bring new tenants, new processes, and sometimes new systems. Don't assume the requirements you read about last year still apply. Always confirm with your own leasing contact.

What "Accredited" Actually Means

On POS websites, "accredited" can mean three quite different things:

  • BIR accreditation or registration. Your POS meets tax requirements. You can read more on our page about BIR POS accreditation.
  • Mall accreditation. The mall operator has approved your POS to report sales for its tenants.
  • Official partner status. A commercial arrangement, which isn't the same as approving everyone else.

There's a wrinkle worth knowing about Rockwell. According to one POS provider's published documentation, the provider was accredited by Rockwell in February 2024, with accreditation done yearly, and new stores currently go through an auto-rollout that skips the sales file review. That's one provider's description, not Rockwell's own policy, so don't treat it as a rulebook. But it hints at two things: accreditation may need renewing, and even an approved POS still has to be set up for your store.

How Rockwell Sales Reporting Appears to Work

Based on that same documentation, here's the journey of your daily sales data. Other providers may handle it differently, so treat this as an illustration:

  1. Staff run day end on the POS.
  2. A daily sales text file is generated.
  3. It's sent automatically to a shared online folder.
  4. Someone at the store downloads it.
  5. Someone uploads it to Rockwell's shared network folder.

You'll also need a tenant code. According to the documentation, that's provided by the mall admin and serves as the unique identifier of the store location.

Did you notice the pattern? The first three steps are automatic. The last two, according to that documentation, are not. They need a human, every single day. That's what we mean by "the manual last mile."

The Manual Last Mile: How to Make It Reliable

Manual steps aren't bad. They're just fragile. A process that depends on one tired person remembering something at closing time will eventually fail, usually on a holiday weekend. Here's how to make it dependable.

Name an owner, and a backup

Write down who is responsible for the daily upload, and who covers when they're off. "The manager" isn't a name. Use real people, and make sure both know it's their job.

Set a daily window

Decide when the upload happens, for example within an hour of closing. A fixed window turns "sometime" into a habit.

Keep proof

Save a screenshot or note each day showing that the upload was done. It takes ten seconds, and it can save hours when someone asks, "Did you send Tuesday's file?"

Plan for the awkward days

Holidays, weekends, staff absences, and very busy nights are when manual steps get skipped. Decide in advance who handles each situation.

Do a weekly spot check

Once a week, compare what the mall has with your own end-of-day reports. Small mismatches are easy to fix early and painful to untangle months later. Good POS software makes it simple to pull those reports, and add-on POS modules can extend your reporting as you grow.

Ask whether the last mile can be automated

This is the big one. Ask any vendor, including us, whether the upload can be automated for your branch, and what's possible with Rockwell's setup. If it can't, make sure the manual process above is airtight.

A tenant in a food court told us once that the thing that saved her wasn't a fancy feature, it was a laminated checklist next to the till. (Swap in a real story of your own if you have one.) It's not glamorous, but it works.

Keep It Secure

Shared folders and shared accounts are convenient and risky. A few habits go a long way:

  • Use individual accounts for anyone who handles shared folders. Never share one password between staff.
  • Use two-step verification wherever it's available.
  • Remove access promptly when someone leaves.
  • Ask your vendor how they handle folders and credentials on their side.

No system is risk-free, so be wary of anyone who promises "completely secure."

Don't Forget the Annual Renewal

If accreditation really is yearly, as that documentation suggests, put the renewal date in your calendar. Ask your provider how they handle it, who's responsible, and what happens if it lapses. A surprise renewal in the middle of a busy season is the kind of problem that's easy to prevent.

Opening a New Rockwell Store

If you're setting up a new location, here's the typical order of events described in that documentation, again as an illustration:

  1. Request the tenant code from the mall admin.
  2. Arrange access to the shared folder with your provider.
  3. Give the details to your provider, who enters them in the back office and switches sales sending on.
  4. Run a test day end.
  5. Confirm the file reaches the mall.

Who does what is worth getting straight: usually the tenant requests, the mall provides, and the vendor configures, while your team handles the last mile. And don't consider the store ready until you've seen a file make the whole journey.

Questions to Ask Any POS Vendor

Use this list with every provider, including us:

  • Are you set up for my specific Rockwell property and branch? Not "malls in general."
  • Can I see proof? An accreditation letter or listing, with dates and scope.
  • Is the upload automatic, or does my team do it?
  • How will I know if a day's file is missing?
  • How is the yearly renewal handled?
  • Who fixes problems, and are evenings and weekends covered?
  • What does it cost? Ask for a written first-year quote. You can check pricing for how our plans are structured.
  • What hardware do I need? You can browse typical POS hardware to see what a full setup includes.

Then confirm the answers with your own leasing contact. The mall has the final say.

Where Divergent POS Fits

Divergent POS lists Rockwell among the accredited mall partners on our homepage, as part of a partial list that also includes SM, Ayala, Ortigas, and Megaworld. We've served Filipino businesses since 1997, and our systems come with hardware, software, installation, training, and support.

Our clients work in very different settings. Bacolod Chicken Inasal, a partner for about two decades, uses our Food Connect program for some branches and FastPOS for its food court branch. Different counters, different setups, same expectation that the day closes cleanly. A retail POS, a cafe POS, and a restaurant POS all have to pass the same test at the end of the night, even though their counters look nothing alike.

Requirements differ by mall and branch, so we confirm the specifics with each tenant.

Don't Forget the Tax Layer

Mall reporting and BIR requirements are separate. Your POS needs to produce compliant receipts, and the BIR's new e-invoicing rules may apply to your business. Read our page on BIR updated e-invoicing, check the BIR's RMC No. 98-2026, and confirm current requirements with the Bureau of Internal Revenue.

A system can satisfy the mall and still fall short on tax, and the reverse is also true. Ask every provider about both.

What Tenants Ask Us

Does my POS need to be accredited by Rockwell? Many malls require tenants to use an approved POS, but the specifics depend on your lease and your property. Ask your leasing contact what applies to your branch.

Is Divergent POS accredited by Rockwell? Our homepage lists Rockwell among our accredited mall partners, as part of a partial list. Because requirements can differ by mall and branch, contact us and tell us where you're opening, and we'll confirm what's in place for your location.

Who uploads the sales file? It depends on the provider. In one published example, the POS sends the file to a shared folder automatically, but the store's team has to download it and upload it to the mall's folder. Ask your vendor exactly how it works for your branch.

What happens if a day's file is missed? That depends on your lease and your mall, so ask your leasing contact. What you can control is making sure someone owns the step, and that you'd notice a gap quickly.

The Bottom Line

A POS can pass every demo and still leave a gap at the end of the day. So when you're choosing, don't stop at the badge. Ask who does the last step, how a missed file would show up, and what happens at renewal.

If you're opening in a Rockwell mall and want a straight answer about your setup, talk to the Divergent POS team and tell us which property and branch.
